Filter Factory vs The CompetitionWhen you are choosing air filters for your application, you will have the choice to work with either a specialized air filter company like The Filter Factory, Inc. or a general supplier. As a professional air filter manufacturer, we want to highlight a few distinct differences between working with a dedicated filter expert and a typical supplier.

Filter FactoryAt The Filter Factory, Inc., we pride ourselves on delivering exceptional quality and expertise in air filtration. Our filters are meticulously crafted with high-grade materials, undergoing rigorous testing to ensure they meet stringent industry standards and provide reliable, long-lasting performance. With over 50 years of experience, our team of seasoned professionals excels in designing custom solutions tailored to unique filtration needs, leveraging the latest technologies to stay ahead of industry trends. Customer satisfaction is our top priority; we offer personalized and responsive service, quick turnaround times, and comprehensive support to ensure you receive the best filtration solutions and advice.

VS

The CompetitionIn contrast, many other companies in the air filtration industry often fall short in key areas. They frequently use lower-quality materials and outdated technologies, leading to inconsistent product performance and shorter filter lifespans. With limited experience and a lack of expertise, they typically provide generic, one-size-fits-all solutions that may not meet specific requirements. Customer service is often impersonal and inadequate, with delayed responses and insufficient support, resulting in a less satisfactory overall experience. These companies tend to prioritize cost-cutting over quality and innovation, ultimately compromising the effectiveness and reliability of their filters.

What's New

image of our building

Our LocationThe Filter Factory, Inc. is located in central California. Just a few steps off the beaten path. We enjoy 10,000 square feet of floor space plus we have two mezzanines adding another 7,000 square feet of light and heavy storage. We have separated our production areas into low efficiency panel assemblies and pleated filter assemblies. Having our pleaters near our assembly in a controlled environment, allows us to pay close attention to quality. Having our test lab close by keeps us on track, with air flow and efficiency. Having our production equipment and assembly all in one place helps us to maintain quality control over the entire manufacturing process. It is rare to find a filter company with this much sophisticated equipment, although here we are. We are a filter manufacturer, not an assembly house, and definitely not a distributor.

Our MachinesSpeaking of machines, we have a wide array of band saws, notchers, shears, roll formers, presses, and corrugators within our machine shop. We also have four metal expanders. These make it possible for us to make the majority of the components for our filters from the most basic of materials (i.e. sheet metal, aluminum or steel coil), and therefore save on material costs. We have two machines that allow us to offer a wider variety of filter media types with significantly shorter lead times and more cost effective prices. Our Chandler Pleater can pleat cellulose or screen medias up to 48” wide from .625” to 2.5”. Our newest addition, a Solent pleater can pleat from .75” up to 30” of the high efficiency glass media used in HEPA filters.

Quality ControlAlthough it is nice to be able to say we have machines and the ability to make filters and media, we also realized quality control is a concern with all customers regardless of who their customers are. In efforts to guarantee quality, we have established our quality control system and have acquired two air flow tunnels and three laser particle counters. We also have a designated QC Lab, where this equipment is used under a controlled environment. Calibration is done and recorded annually for all inspection equipment (for those of you interested in paperwork).

Order HistorySomething that is not necessarily “new,” is our computer records; they go all the way back to the beginning of The Filter Factory. A new twist on this is that we also have the full ALFCO database and what there is of the Air Filtration Products database (both closed in 2004). Because of this in many cases we can not only tell you what your company ordered ten years ago, but we can also pull the layout and therefore duplicate it, while keeping with the current quality standards. Or if you need something like before, but slightly different, we do have the capability to help in the design of the filter so that it is the same, but better.

Yes, we specialize in manufacturing replacement filters for a wide range of applications, including HVAC systems, industrial equipment, and more. We have thousands of part numbers, and yours is probably in there. We can also create custom replacements to fit your specific needs.

The number on your filter typically indicates the part number or our UL file number. If you have any doubts, please contact us, and we can help you verify the correct part number for your filter.

To measure your filter, use a tape measure to determine the length, width, and depth. Be sure to measure carefully as we may need to make your filter from your measurements. Be sure to note any unique features such as holes, handles, and/or surface finish. For precise guidance, refer to our measurement guide on our website.

A nominal size filter is a rounded approximation and the actual size is slightly smaller. For example, a nominal 16x20 filter may have actual dimensions of 15.5x19.5.

To describe the frame, specify the material (e.g., aluminum, galvanized steel), the dimensions, and any special features like a gasket or flanges.

The active face area is the part of the filter that allows air to pass through for filtration. It excludes the frame and any solid edges. In low efficiency filters, this area would be the area not covered by the frame lip. However, in a high efficiency filter, air will seek the path of least resistance and will flow under the frame lip to pass through the filtration media.

We do not make cabin air filters for cars, although we do make them for heavy equipment and operator comfort.

Yes, we have a minimum charge to cover basic manufacturing and handling costs. The exact amount depends on the type of filter and order size. Please contact us for a detailed quote based on your requirements.

We typically provide quotes within 24-48 hours of receiving your request. For complex or custom orders, the process may take slightly longer. We strive to deliver prompt and accurate quotations to meet your needs.

UL 900 is a flammability rating for air filters. UL 94 is a flammability rating for foam plastic materials. Depending on your needs, filters may require compliance with one or both standards.

"Media" refers to the material within the filter that captures contaminants. Different media types are used for various applications, such as activated carbon, fiberglass, pleated paper, polyester, polyester foam, glass fiber, electret, carbon impregnated polyester, expanded metal, each offering unique filtration properties.

We can manufacture filters that combine multiple media types to meet specific filtration needs. This might include combining particulate and gas-phase media to provide comprehensive air cleaning solutions.

We offer airflow testing and efficiency testing for our HEPA filters. For other types of testing, we collaborate with external facilities to provide comprehensive evaluations, which may incur additional charges.
